New
name for association representing California’s more than 400
not-for-profit long-term care providers
SACRAMENTO, Calif., Aug. 22 /PRNewswire/
-- Aging Services of California is the new name of the 45-year-old
association representing the state's 400- plus nonprofit long-term
care providers. The rationale for the new identity, replacing
California Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (CAHSA),
is to position the public-service organization as a leading advocate
of quality senior living and care today and into the future,
officials explained. The new name becomes effective immediately.
"Aging research, market
analyses and government funding sources suggest baby boomers
and future generations will reside in environments much
different than those available today," Anne Burns Johnson,
the association's president and CEO, said. "Our new name
Aging Services of California more simply and inclusively
reflects these new alternatives for seniors, such as
home-based care, adult day care and community services."
To complement its
representation for providers of senior living and care, many
of Aging Services of California's resources now also are
accessible to prospective long-term care residents and the
general public through its website,
www.aging.org.
Aging Services of California
members provide a wide range of options -- including affordable
housing, continuing care retirement communities, assisted living,
skilled-nursing, and home and community-based care -- that
collectively serve more than 80,000 seniors across the state. The
association's comprehensive activities include advocating public
policies, conducting educational programs, producing communications
and other resources, and soon conducting a statewide public
education campaign
