Decatur, GA Senior
citizens offered help in Martin Luther King
Project
Decatur, GA senior citizens who own their own homes but
who need help in getting things done around
the house are invited to apply for the 2008
Martin Luther King Jr. Service Project.
Now entering its sixth year, the program
offered by the Decatur Preservation Alliance
puts a team of volunteers and professional
contractors to work on houses, for fix-ups
ranging from roof leak repairs to appliance
installation.
To qualify, a senior must be at least 65 and
own and live in his or her own home within
the Decatur city limits.
Income limits vary. The group will conduct
interviews and consider applicants on a
case-by-case basis. If applicants are
chosen, improvements will be made over the
2008 Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend.
The application deadline is June 30. Contact
