The Future
of Aging 2.0
One thing older Americans all agree on is
that they want to live an independent
lifestyle for as long as possible.
Groundbreaking technologies are making this
possible for more and more Americans.
The technology exhibit at the American
Association of Homes and Services for the
Aging's (AAHSA) Annual Meeting & Exposition
in Orlando will showcase technologies that
are transforming aging.
These technologies offer hope for improving
older people's quality of life, while
reducing health care costs, encouraging
healthy behavior change and providing
caregivers with support.
At the exhibit you'll be able to try out the
following:
-- Wii(TM), the new video game system from
Nintendo that is so fun and easy to play it
has become a sensation among baby boomers
and seniors.
-- [m]Power, an interactive fitness system
that provides fun and challenging cognitive
exercises for seniors at risk for or
currently suffering from dementia.
-- MD.2 medication dispenser, which
automatically organizes, reminds, dispenses
and monitors an individual's medication use.
-- Monitoring system that helps people with
Alzheimer's disease remain in their own
homes while detecting if they are safe.
Exhibition Hours: Monday, Oct. 22, noon to
4 p.m.,
Tuesday, Oct.
23, noon to 3:30 p.m.,
Wednesday,
Oct. 24, noon to 3:30 p.m.
As the association of not-for-profit
providers of nursing homes, assisted living,

services, AAHSA, through its Center for
Aging Services Technologies (CAST), is
working to bring together consumers,
providers, universities and corporations to
advance technologies that will allow all
seniors to receive the services they need,
when they need them, in a place they call
home.
