Back
by popular demand, Celtic Women returns to
The Fabulous Fox… KETC Channel 9 and Fox
Concerts present the return of CELTIC WOMAN
to the Fox Theatre for two shows – Friday &
Saturday, March 28-29 at 8pm.
CELTIC WOMAN features the very special
talents of four Irish female vocalists and a
very exciting fiddle player. Together, the
women create a wonderful musical experience
that presents the unique voices and styles
of each as soloists, as well as the group as
an ensemble.
A New Journey,
the latest spectacular production from
CELTIC WOMAN, combines the elegiac lyricism
of Ireland’s past with the vivaciousness and
dynamism of its present.
Spanning over two hours, the show contains
selections from both of the group’s platinum
albums, Celtic Woman and A New
Journey.
The five gifted soloists have come together
with composer and musical director David
Downes to create a truly special musical
experience – a ‘tour de force of talent’,
according to the Boston Herald.
A New Journey
both expands upon and refines the CELTIC
WOMAN sound.
The repertoire is an unforgettable
collection of contemporary hits (“Beyond the
Sea,” “The Prayer,” “Scarborough Fair,”
“Over the Rainbow”), classical favorites (“Lascia
Ch’io Pianga,” “Vivaldi’s Rain”), Irish
standards (“Dúlaman,” “Danny Boy,” “Mo Ghile
Mear”) and original compositions written
especially for the soloists by David Downes.
CELTIC WOMAN’s A New Journey, like
all the best journeys, is an experience you
will never forget.
Created by composer and musical director
David Downes and executive producer Dave
Kavanagh in 2004, CELTIC WOMAN's story has,
from the very beginning, been one of
overwhelming success.
Between their self-titled debut – Celtic
Woman, their Christmas CD – A
Christmas Celebration and A New
Journey CD CELTIC WOMAN has held the #1
position on the Billboard World Music Charts
for a record-breaking 95 consecutive weeks.
Their
CDs and DVDs have gone platinum in the U.S.
and South Africa, as well as going gold as
far a field as Australia and Japan.
2007 was another successful year for CELTIC
WOMAN as they continue dominating the
Billboard world music charts, holding the
#1, 2 & 3 spots for Top World Album for A
New Journey, A Christmas Celebration,
and Celtic Woman respectively along
with the #1 Top World Artist spot.
To date, CELTIC WOMAN have completed four
triumphantly successful U.S. tours, selling
out such exalted venues as New York's Radio
City Music Hall and Carnegie Hall, Boston's
Opera House and L.A.'s Greek Theatre.
CELTIC WOMAN's PBS special has also been a
runaway hit, airing an incredible 3,400
times and 316 different PBS stations since
its debut in March of 2005.
