Fox
launches 25th Anniversary with
tremendous revue of show tunes

One has to wonder if when Mary and Leon
Strauss walked through the dilapidated Fox
Theater more than a quarter-century ago
what type of vision they must have had. Did
they really believe the crumbling palace of
a theater could ever be restored, perhaps
even exceeding, its historic grandeur?
I have to believe that they did. Otherwise,
there would be no way that The Fabulous Fox
could be launching its 25th
Anniversary season as the Crown Jewel of St.
Louis theater. And, what better way to
start than the simply enchanting evening of
‘Broadway’s Best’, a fitting tribute to ‘the
glories of the American Musical.’
Brian Stokes Mitchell and Linda Eder offered
a range of songs that served as a reminder
that the Broadway musical truly is a unique
art form.
Sensational, entertaining and funny are just
a few of the descriptions that make the
evening a special time.
The only unfortunate thing is that the show
was only one evening. But, even that is
appropriate since The Fabulous Fox is really
a haven for memories. With the selection of
Mitchell and Eder to do the honors, the
memories of so many shows that have played
to thousands of theater goers were revived
with grace, charm, but most importantly, a
promise that the best is yet to come.
