February Is American
Heart Month –
A reminder to get a heart check-up
February 2006 (Medialink) - Heart disease kills nearly
half a million Americans every year, according to the
American Heart Association. This month is American Heart
Month – a good time to get a heart exam because early
detection is key to preventing serious heart problems.
Heart disease is largely preventable if detected early.
Doctors can give you a diagnosis through routine
physical exams and x-rays. The latest technology is also
making it easier for doctors to examine your heart. For
instance, the 64 Slice CT Scanner offers clear pictures
of arteries – allowing doctors to clearly identify an
aneurysm.
Experts recommend sticking to a low fat, low calorie
diet and exercising 30 to 40 minutes at least four times
a week to maintain good heart health. And you should
talk to your doctor at the first sign of any heart pain
or discomfort.
