New book from AARP CEO calls on
Baby Boomers to leave their legacy for generations to come
October
2006 (Medialink) - For the first time in history, long life
is not a rarity. This is good news for the 78 million
American baby boomers, the oldest of whom turns 60 this
year. They're starting new careers; rallying for causes
close to their hearts; raising grandchildren; becoming more
active in their communities; and above all, changing the
face of America. In 50+ Igniting a Revolution to Reinvent
America, AARP's CEO Bill Novelli outlines the opportunities
for a generation that transformed America 40 years ago.
An
internationally known expert in social change and advocacy,
Novelli urges boomers and others to seize the opportunities
that spring from our increased longevity and the aging of
the largest generation in history to improve their own lives
and the nation. In fact, this transformation even expands to
the ballot box, where this generation has the power to
demand that elected officials come together on the issues
that matter to them.
50+
Igniting a Revolution to Reinvent America is in stores
October 3rd. Proceeds from the sale of the book will be
donated to the AARP Foundation and used to support programs
that focus on improving the lives of the most vulnerable 50+
Americans.
Bill
Novelli, the CEO of AARP, is the chairman of the board and
former president of the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids. He
has also served as the executive vice president of CARE and
is co-founder of Porter Novelli, one of the world's largest
public relations firms.
