Christmas in Montana - Celebrate the
Christmas Season in Missouri River Country
It's the time of year when snow flies
outside while inside hearts are dancing with
excitement at the beginning of the Christmas
season. Montana's Missouri River Country
comes alive with good, old-fashioned
Christmas festivities and events that are
sure to spark your Christmas season.
Seven charming communities open their doors
and invite you to join in all the
festivities the area has to offer this
November. With all the season’s greetings
and a warm welcome from the locals, you’re
sure to feel like part of the town.

November 9, 2009 -- Missouri River Country
offers a unique experience for visitors of
every age. This holiday season offers you
and your family a chance to experience an
old fashioned Country Christmas. You’ll make
memories to last a lifetime. And, don’t
forget, most of these events are free to the
public.
A brief round-up of the celebrations and
festivals includes:
Malta hosts the Festival of Trees – an Old
Fashioned Christmas as an ongoing event.
Between November 10 and December 3, stop by
the Phillips County Museum to view beautiful
Christmas trees, wreaths and centerpieces.
Visitors can bid on the arrangements or just
vote for their favorite. The belle of the
ball is an open house on December 3. Hors
d’oeuvres and refreshments will be served,
and the silent auction winners will be
announced. The Malta Community also hosts a
Parade of Lights on December 7.
Sidney welcomes you to kick off the
Christmas season at the Christmas Stroll and
Parade of Lights. On November 27, bring the
entire family to a magical Christmas
evening, chock full of activities. There
will be food booths, arts and crafts for
sale and entertainment. All of the stores
join in with extended business hours and
colorful window displays. Children will love
“Santa’s Workshop” where they can do
hands-on crafts and visit with Santa.
A stunning display of lights to brighten up
the start of the Christmas season will be
held in Scobey on November 28 during the
Parade of Lights. There will be magically
floats and the area stores will stay open
late so you can find the perfect gifts for
your loved ones.
Visitors to the town of Culbertson will be
delighted to find a special Christmas Light
Display along Highway 2. Area businesses
each decorate a section to create a
beautiful way to celebrate Christmas. The
display lights up on the weekend of November
28 and 29 and runs throughout the holiday
season.
The Wolf Point community starts the holidays
with a Christmas Parade of Lights on
December 4. This enchanting evening features
a parade where all the floats are filled
with light. Santa is the master of
ceremonies and will visit with children
after the parade. This event will help you
remember what Christmas looks like though
the eyes of a child.
Circle gears up for the season on December 5
with Santa Day. Santa visits with children
of all ages from 10 am to noon. And his gift
shop is open for shopping by youngsters
looking for Christmas gifts for their
family. All items are donated by the area’s
senior citizens and priced under 50 cents.
Gift wrap is included. There will also be
sleigh rides, weather permitting.
Glasgow enjoys a daytime Christmas Stroll on
December 6. Santa comes to town at high noon
and will visit with the children at a local
store. A matinee will keep the kids busy
while parents shop for the perfect gifts.
And make sure to stop by the Pioneer Museum
for an old fashioned Christmas complete with
a Victorian reception, music and holiday
food. There will be group activities
throughout town for all ages to enjoy. And
when the sun goes down, the Parade of Lights
moves through town.
Plentywood lights up the darkness of night
with a Parade of Lights on December 6. The
main street lights are turned down to allow
the floats to really glow. There will be
holiday music, Christmas caroling, and a few
surprises along the way.
Fairview offers a unique holiday feast with
the Silver Bells on December 12. This quaint
community lights up the silver screen with a
free movie plus popcorn and drinks. Santa
will be there along with Christmas carolers.
There are also custom-made collector
ornaments and a bazaar.
Missouri River Country offers a unique
experience for visitors of every age. This
