Video Report: Football great Jerry Price takes
to the field to promote arthritis education
April 2006 (Medialink) -- Jerry Rice has worn many hats over the years.
He has been a San Francisco 49er, an Oakland Raider - even a dancing
star. Yet when it comes to arthritis, Jerry is much like the 66
million Americans affected by the same condition.
Did You Know?
Arthritis
costs the U.S. economy more than $86.2 billion annually.
Each
year, the disease results in 36 million physician visits and more
than 750,000 hospitalizations.
Of all
adults reporting arthritis, approximately one in three reported
activity limitations.
Arthritis
is the nation's leading cause of disability and limits everyday
activities such as walking, dressing and bathing for more than seven
million Americans.
Jerry
Rice discusses his personal story of how he is able to overcome his
arthritis pain and continue to live an active life.
About
Jerry Rice, Pro Football Player
Jerry
Rice's 16 seasons with the San Francisco 49ers produced a football
player who is today recognized as the greatest wide receiver ever to
play in the NFL. He broke record after record on his way to the top
- including career receptions, total touchdowns, receiving
touchdowns, games with 100-yards receiving, most receiving yards in
a season, most consecutive games with a receiving touchdown, most
consecutive 100-catch seasons, and most seasons with 50 or more
receptions. He broke just as many Super Bowl records, was selected
to 12 Pro Bowls, and was twice named NFL Player of the Year. Though
he is now retired, he has made a comeback of sorts, starring in the
popular television reality show, "Dancing With the Stars."
