Seniors mobilize against
privatization commission…Budget Bill S. 3521 continues
the same privatization strategy already rejected by the
majority of Americans
"Contrary to what the President and his Congressional
allies want us to
believe, our record budget deficits were not caused by
Social Security and Medicare. This latest commission
proposal takes taxes off the table and hopes to balance
the budget on the backs of seniors, the disabled and
poor.

The last thing Washington needs is another commission to
produce yet
another preconceived report with a predetermined
outcome".

The National Committee and its 4.6 million members and
supporters are
mobilized against Senate Bill S. 3521, the Stop Over
Spending Act of 2006
because the Entitlement Commission created by this
legislation is clearly
designed to privatize Social Security.
Letters to Congress opposing "SOS" legislation have been
delivered to Capitol Hill and emails have been sent to
thousands of National Committee members nationwide
urging a congressional email and phone campaign to
remind Washington that the privatization of Social
Security is not the answer. Our members want a strong
economy unburdened by record deficits; however, the
privatization of Social Security does nothing to improve
the program's long-term solvency. In fact, private
accounts increase our federal deficit by more than a
trillion dollars in the first ten years alone.
