Los Angeles (PRWEB) September 2, 2009 --
Gerontologist Di Patterson to convene

launching the release of her first book:
AgeWise: Seasoning Your Life.
They made it through the tumultuous '60's,
began their families and had children of
their own in the 70's and 80's and today,
America's Baby Boomers are beginning the
transition into their senior years.
But never known for doing things the
traditional way, Baby Boomers are once again
defying the odds and fighting back against
gravity and Mother Nature, and a new
generation of Gerontologists like Di
Patterson are ushering them into their
golden years in a manner that is far
different from the ones their parents
experienced.
For the last 18 years Patterson, editor of
the popular Journal for Success in Aging™
and founder of
Success In Aging TV™ and www.AgeWise.tv,
has been working to advance the cause of
healthy aging through her work with numerous
organizations designed to improving the
lives of America's seniors.
Along the way she was also the primary
caregiver to several family members
including her 95-year-old grandmother.
This fall, Patterson will take her "aging
activism" to the next level however, when
she releases her first book, AgeWise: Season
Your Life and hosts a conference on positive
aging, featuring celebrity speakers and
workshops.
In the book, Patterson encourages readers to
see the beauty that age can bring and how to
be pro-active about preparing oneself in the
thirties, forties and fifties for their
transition through an active engagement with
life.
"I am really passionate about educating
people about the right way to approach aging
and let people know that aging is not a
curse but rather a gift," says Patterson.
"It's become such a taboo today with
everyone in Hollywood trying to avoid it
like the plague. The key is to age
gracefully and make your preparations for
the golden years a priority."
The book is also a how-to guide for seniors
well into their 70's and 80's on ways to
stay healthy, strong and independent.
With tips on fashion, nutrition, fitness,
religion, technology and developing hobbies,
the book is expected to appeal to a wide
variety of readers with different
backgrounds and interests.
The Season of Life Conference™ will be held
in Palm Desert, California, on November
